How to Find a Coach that is Right for You

At some point in your mompreneur journey, you will need to find a coach. However, you don’t want to hire any coach who promises you $10k months in two days. There are several things you want to consider before investing in any coach. Continue reading to learn the six things you need to consider when preparing to invest in coaching support.

Be Clear on What Area(s) You Need Coaching Support in

If you hire a coach only to discover that the areas of your business you need support with aren’t their area of expertise, you’re going to be highly disappointed. Before you find a coach, take some time to reflect on your business. Be honest with yourself about the areas in your business that you are actually struggling with. Let that information guide your decision in hiring a coach. You want to work with a coach that can actually help you in your areas of growth.

Does this Coach Understand Your Current Season of Life?

I’m a firm believer in mom business coaches hiring coaches who are moms. Your time and capacity as a mom look completely different from an entrepreneur who is not responsible for children. As a mompreneur, you need a coach who will teach you business strategies that you can realistically implement based on your current season of life. A coach who doesn’t understand your current season of life will recommend a marketing and visibility plan that you can’t realistically commit to. Mama, you don’t need that type of stress in your life. Find a coach who gets it and will provide the type of support you need.

Does this Coach Have Social Proof?

Social proof is more than just screenshots of testimonials and Voxer messages. Ask the coach’s current and former clients what it was like working with that coach and what was the transformation they experienced. This will give you a true behind the scenes look at what it is like to work with this coach. Hearing other people’s experiences can help you gain clarity on whether you are truly a good fit for the coach’s program.

Does this Coach Create a Personalized Experience for their Clients?

Some coaches say they will teach you how to create content that converts, but what they truly mean is that they will teach you how to create Instagram content that converts. Instagram isn’t a marketing platform for everyone, and that’s okay. You want to find a coach that can support you with creating content for any platform you choose to market on. This is why in Life in Seasons 1:1 Coaching, I create a personalized experience for each of my clients. I have clients that primarily market through their podcasts and others through their email. Regardless of the platform they choose, they get the support they need in creating that attracts their dream clients.

Do They Practice What They Preach?

One thing that can break a coaching relationship is having a coach who encourages their clients to implement marketing strategies that they don’t use themselves. When you are ready to find a coach, consume their free content first. This will allow you to truly get to know the coach and see if you want to work with them. If they are saying one thing on one platform and then another thing on a different platform, then you know to continue searching because they are not the coach for you.

Does this Coach’s Beliefs and Values Align with Yours?

It’s so important to make sure the coach you invest in shares similar beliefs and values as you. For instance, I truly value being a mom first and a business owner second. This value has led me to only invest in coaches who are also moms and prioritize their children over their business. Take some time to reflect on your personal and business values. Allow that to guide you in finding the coach that is right for you.

If you are a mama looking to work with a coach who will support you with building a business that fits your current season of life, then apply for Life in Seasons 1:1 Coaching to get the personalized support you need.
