Setting Boundaries in Your Marketing Won’t Stop You from Having a Successful Online Business
Every mompreneur wants a successful online business. However, how we achieve that goal will look different from others. If you’re a mom running an online business with young children at home, you have to set boundaries in your marketing. Trying to keep up with all of the latest marketing trends will leave you stressed and burnt out. To prevent burnout and overwhelm, you need boundaries in your marketing. Let’s talk about what those boundaries can look like.
My 3 Rules on Marketing That Don’t Stop Me from Having a Successful Online Business
Prioritizing Long-form Content Over Short-form Content
As a mom of two young children, I don’t have the capacity to keep up with the demands of short-form content like Instagram posts and stories. Realistically, if you want to see results on short-form content platforms, you have to post consistently at a higher frequency. I focus my efforts on long-form content like my podcast and blog-style show notes. Podcast content will continue to generate leads and sell your offers even if you aren’t posting online daily.
Using the 9-grid Instagram Strategy Over Posting Daily on Instagram
Again, my time and capacity are limited, so I focus my marketing efforts on platforms that are built for longevity. The Instagram algorithm is constantly changing. More people are seeing low engagement despite having huge followings. The algorithm doesn’t impact my podcast engagement. As long as I produce content that is relevant to my listeners and leverage podcast SEO, my podcast engagement continues to increase.
Prioritizing Marketing Strategies I Enjoy
Marketing should be fun. If you aren’t enjoying how you’re currently marketing your offers, then it’s time for a change. When you don’t enjoy the marketing platforms you are on, being consistent in your marketing will be hard. You are more likely to be inconsistent with your marketing if you are doing it begrudgingly.
Setting boundaries in your marketing as a mompreneur is a good thing. This will help you burnout proof your business. The key is to choose 2-3 marketing platforms you actually enjoy and leverage those platforms for your marketing.
