One question that many mompreneurs ask is, “What do I need to do to grow my business?” With so much information in the online space, it can be overwhelming knowing what to actually focus on in your business. Continue reading to learn if you are prioritizing strategies for business growth or busy work.
Strategies for Business Growth vs. Busy Work
The difference between strategies for business growth and busy work is that one significantly impacts lead generation and conversions, while the other doesn’t. Strategies for business growth should be your top priority because they are income producing activities. As a mom and solopreneur, your time and capacity are limited, so you need to focus on those activities that are going to move the needle forward in your business and generate income. I like to think of busy work as distractions because they are tasks that are typically time consuming and don’t yield immediate results.
Activities that are Busy Work
Obsessing over your website design, spending hours trying to find the perfect graphic template for your blog header, and constantly checking your email open and click rates are all busy work. As mompreneurs, having a website and leveraging blogging and email marketing are not bad things. However, these things can become distractions if you hyperfocus on all the small details that don’t truly impact your lead generation and conversions. Instead of spending hours updating your entire website, break the task into smaller chunks. Stop creating a new blog header graphic for each new blog; instead, create one template that you can reuse. Limit yourself to checking your email analytics to once a week. Making these simple changes will give you more time to focus on implementing strategies for business growth.
Prioritizing Strategies for Business Growth
There are three tasks you should prioritize regularly in your business: lead generation, engaging with your community, and selling. These are income-producing tasks that will help you hit your business goals. In Life in Seasons Coaching, we prioritize each of these tasks by developing a visibility strategy off social media. We also focus on connecting with your community and selling consistently in your content. When you don’t know what to do in your business, evaluate what you are doing in your business daily. If you find that your daily tasks do not include these three tasks, it’s time to make some changes.
