FAQs About Creating a Podcast Launch Strategy for Business Owners
How Do I Start a Podcast for My Business?
When you are starting a podcast for your business, it’s not enough to just figure out the tech and how to record and publish episodes. Before you ever record and publish your first episode, you need to figure out the who, what, why, and how of your podcast.
- Who are you speaking to in your podcast content
- What do you want your podcast to do for you and your business
- Why are you creating this podcast
- How will you serve your listeners through your podcast
Answer these questions first because they will guide how you approach everything with your podcast — your podcast name, episode topics, the overall flow and structure of your episodes, and more. This step is so important for business owners, which is why it’s part of the first module of my podcast launch course for business owners, Podcast Like a Business Owner. Once you know the answers to those questions, you can decide on your microphone, hosting platform, and other technical aspects. I walk you through all of the technical aspects inside my podcast launch course. Click here to get on the waitlist to be the first to know when it’s live and get access to exclusive bonuses.
What Should Be Included in a Podcast Launch Strategy for Business Owners?
When launching a podcast for your business, there are certain things you need to include in your podcast launch strategy. First, make sure the podcast name you choose is optimized for search. This ensures that the right listeners easily find your podcast. Second, you need to be clear on your podcast launch episode goals. What do you want those launch episodes to do for you? What do you want listeners to do after they binge your launch episodes? Third, you need to create a podcast launch marketing plan. How will you market your podcast launch? Will you have a podcast launch team, or will you leverage social media to get your podcast in front of more people? These are all things you need to consider when building your podcast launch strategy as a business owner.
How to Market a Podcast Launch?
Marketing your podcast launch is an important step in launching a podcast for your business. There are many options for marketing your podcast, including having a podcast launch team to help you promote, promoting your podcast to your email list and on social media, sharing links to your launch episodes and podcast trailer on Pinterest, and going on a podcast tour to promote your podcast.
How Much Does it Cost to Launch a Podcast?
Launching a podcast for your business doesn’t have to be expensive, but it does involve costs. If you are only recording solo episodes, you can record them on your phone using the Voice Memos app. For interviews, a microphone is needed. You can find a good dynamic microphone for less than $100. You will also need headphones for editing, which you can find good over the ears ones for $30. Other expenses include your recording (if not recording on your phone), editing software, and your podcast hosting platform. Depending on the platforms and equipment you choose, as well as whether you choose monthly or annual payments, your initial costs can range from $170 to $1000. There are also free recording and editing platforms like Audacity that can help reduce your podcast costs. However, Audacity can be a challenging platform to learn to edit in if you haven’t used it before.
