Why I’m Not Going Back to a Weekly Podcast Publishing Schedule [Ep. 315]

podcast publishing schedule

Listen to today’s episode on Why I’m Not Going Back to a Weekly Podcast Publishing Schedule:

You may have been told that you have to publish new episodes weekly to grow your podcast audience and have a successful podcast as a business owner. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. You can have a successful podcast whether you publish episodes every other week or seasonally.

Today on the podcast, I’m sharing why I decided not to return to a weekly podcast publishing schedule after my maternity leave, and how dropping to a biweekly schedule has affected my podcast. So, if you’re thinking about switching to a biweekly or seasonal podcast but aren’t sure whether it will negatively impact your podcast’s growth and visibility, today’s episode is for you.

Main Topics Covered in this Episode:

  • Why I decided to stick with a biweekly podcast publishing schedule after returning from my maternity leave
  • How publishing fewer episodes each month affected my podcast and business growth
  • How one of my Accelerator clients ghosted her podcast for 5 months and still made 3 course sales

Podcast Publishing Schedule FAQs

How often should you publish a podcast?

It is often recommended that you publish a podcast weekly, especially when you are first starting out. However, when you are podcasting for your business, a weekly podcast is not required for success. Your podcast publishing schedule should be determined by your capacity. How much time do you realistically have to commit to a podcast? Does bi-weekly or seasonal make more sense for you?

When you start a podcast to get more leads and clients, the intention behind your content matters more than how often you publish new episodes. I have clients that go 3-5 months without posting an episode and still get sales from their podcast. The reason is that when they publish new episodes, they create content relevant to their listeners and make it easy for new listeners to find them through search.

How much does it cost to publish a podcast?

The cost of publishing a podcast depends on the tools you use to produce and distribute it. There are free recording and editing tools. While there are free podcast hosting platforms, it is recommended that you invest in a paid one to access the best features that support your business growth. To learn more about the best podcast tools and platforms when podcasting for your business, check out this blog post.

What’s the best platform for publishing a podcast?

The best platform for publishing a podcast is Captivate. Captivate offers many great features for podcasting business owners, including dynamic ad insertion and attribution links to track how much traffic and engagement your podcast is getting.
