You DON’T Have to Subscribe to Hustle Culture as a Mom
If you’ve been an entrepreneur for any amount of time, then you have heard the debate around hustle culture. Those who are for it believe it’s necessary to reach your goals. They believe that making a temporary sacrifice to hit your income goals is worth it in the long run. Then there are those who are completely against it.
While running a business is hard work and does require you to put in the work, you don’t have to sacrifice yourself or your family. As a mom, your priorities are different. Many mamas in business started their businesses so they could be home with their babies. Your time and capacity as a mom look different, so following the rules of hustle culture may not make sense.
Instead of Subscribing to Hustle Culture, Run Your Business on YOUR Terms
Mama, this business is YOUR business, which means you get to run it in a way that fits your current season of life. Seasons change, which means that how you operate in each new season will look different. As your capacity increases, you will have more time and energy to dedicate to your business. The main thing you need to know is what to focus on in your business in each season. Your top priorities in business should be getting visible for lead generation, selling and having sales conversations, and nurturing your current community (this is outside of serving your clients well).
You can simplify your visibility strategy, sales, and how you nurture your community. Instead of focusing your visibility on socials, leverage low energy strategies like collaborations. If you can’t commit to having sales conversations daily, commit to having so many sales conversations per month. This will make it so that when you have a higher capacity during the month, you can have more sales conversations. Lastly, regarding nurturing your community, you can set up email funnels that will nurture your community as they join your email list. You can also repurpose old emails and other old content to set this up.
You don’t always have to be on in order to grow your business. It’s okay to have periods of working hard or working more when you have the capacity and slow down when you or your family require it. Hustle culture is not the only option to build a profitable business.
