Does My Business Need Social Media?

If you’ve been in the online space for some time, then you’ve probably noticed the talk about business owners moving away from social media marketing. Instagram isn’t Instagramming like it used to, so more business owners are moving to marketing without social media. Maybe you’re feeling this pull to stop relying so much on social media to find clients and convert your community into your paid offers.

If you’re experiencing social media burnout or aren’t seeing the results you used to see when marketing on social media, it may be time to consider other marketing strategies. This is why in The Social Detox Accelerator, we focus on visibility and marketing through podcasting and email marketing. There are effective marketing strategies that can guarantee your content is reaching your ideal clients without you having to post online 24/7. If you’re ready to make social media optional, continue reading to learn my four step process for transitioning your business to marketing without social media.

My 4 Step Process for Transitioning Your Business to Marketing without Social Media

Step 1: Decide if You Want to Completely Delete Your Social Media Accounts OR Show Up On Socials Less

You have options regarding whether and how you use social media in your business. You can decide whether to fully embrace marketing without social media or focus on social media marketing less. Take some time to reflect on your overall experience with being on social media. Were there any aspects that you truly enjoyed and benefitted your business? Are your ideal clients pretty active on social media? Reflect on these questions and others before making a decision.

Step 2: Move Your Social Media Community Over to Your Email List

One of the biggest pitfalls of relying on social media to grow your business is that you can easily lose access to your account. That means you will lose access to the community you worked so hard to build, which can be detrimental for a small business owner. Regardless if you decide to step away from social media completely or just show up less, you need to move your social media community over to your email list. You own your email list, which means you don’t have to worry about losing access to your email community at any given moment. Building your community via email marketing also gives you a guarantee that your content is reaching your community. You know that your emails are making it into your subscribers’ inboxes each time you hit send.

Here are a few tips to help you navigate moving your social media community to your email list:

  • Tell your social media community that you’re stepping back or completely leaving the platform. Don’t just ghost them. You’ve poured into them for some time, so let them know what’s going on.
  • Incentivize your social media community. Give them a reason to want to join your email list. This can be done through freebies, creating a VIP email community, or hosting a fun giveaway or challenge.
  • Give yourself at least a month to move your social media community over to your email list.
  • Know that not everyone is going to join your email list, and that’s okay.

Step 3: Decide On What Marketing Strategy You are Going to Leverage in Place of Social Media

Mama, the options are endless for marketing your business and finding clients. You have to figure out what the best option for you is. Some things to consider are how you enjoy creating content, where your dream clients are hanging out, and how they enjoy consuming content. Some options are podcasting, starting a YouTube channel, leveraging blogging and Pinterest, collaborations, networking events, and paid ads. You have options. Once you decide on your social media replacement and develop a new marketing strategy, start implementing it during your transition from social media.

Step 4: Rip Off the Band-Aid and Just Do It

Whether you’re leaving social media completely or showing up less, it will feel uncomfortable. As business owners, it’s been ingrained in us that we need social media to be a legitimate business. The reality is that you don’t when you leverage other marketing strategies. The core of marketing is messaging that resonates with your target audience and moves them to action. The format does not matter. So, instead of letting the mindset drama hold you back, rip off the band-aid and just go for it.

Marketing without social media can be your reality if you want it to be. When we work together in The Social Detox Accelerator, you will learn how to leverage podcasting and email marketing to attract, nurture, and convert your dream clients while making social media optional.
